Glass Reflections

Glass Reflections

I look in the mirror –
my reflection doesn’t match my face
My smile doesn’t live in my eyes
My response stops before it forms
on my lips – I gasp a realization

My reflection is the elusion
I allowed myself to believe

With my palm pressed to the glass
I say goodbye to the me I thought I knew
I turn away from reflections
to touch my own skin instead
of the cold glass illusion I’ve always trusted

“Hello” I say to myself
“I’ve missed you”
