You have beckoned me
to shores of distant thought,
across straits of perilous silence,
upon choppy waters of beseeching
requests to be more than I was.
I’ve paid for safe passage
with flesh and blood and soul,
watched as land slid away from view,
held on tight to the helm in storms.
Alone, I traveled to meet you…
You, the Me I knew I could be.

Day Five of National Poetry Month and NaPoWriMo

There is a little book called “I Love You” by Swami Muktananda. It is a gem, a treasure of self-reflection and an understanding of love. It is partly the credit for my journey and for the inspiration of this poem.

I Love You, Swami Muktananda
