Fall

Fall

Fall

Like brown soldiers
in tattered uniforms,
they keep watch until
succumbing to the wind –
relinquishing their grip
on the branches of life,
plummeting to their death,
to decompose against the earth
beneath the coming snows.
We all live, we all fall.
We all become
the earth
once more.

Malleable Spirit

Malleable

Malleable Spirit

Malleable is my spirit,
weakened by the flames.
White-hot life on which I tread
seek to sculpt and tame.

I resign upon the anvil,
anticipate the hammers fall.
Precious metals of my soul
await a greater call.

We all go through difficult things in life. How we react to them is our decision. I choose to see my challenges as a way to grow and become stronger. Life is a forge, we must allow it to temper us so we may become who we are meant to be.

Everything

All the umbrellas of the world
could never withstand
the storms she faced,
or the scorching rays of sun
as they beat down, burning her skin.
She danced a careful line
between sunshine and rain –
never prepared for either.
She traveled light
knowing she could not carry much
and rested in the knowledge
all she ever needed was inside her.
Her journey was uncovering
everything she already was.

Sometimes the hardest thing to be is yourself without apology. The winds of life vary between a breeze and a hurricane. When you know yourself, your feet stay planted on the ground despite what happens around you. Stay strong in your knowledge – you are everything you need. Look inside yourself. It’s there.
