‘The Necklace of Goddess Athena’ by Effrosyni Moschoudi
The idea of Mythology has always been appealing to me, even as a child. Greek mythology, in particular, was something I loved reading. So picking up ‘The Necklace of Goddess Athena’ by Effrosyni Moschoudi was a no-brainer. I was prepared for a fantastic fantasy-filled adventure! What I was not prepared for was the way it transported me so effortlessly into the world the author created. This book is full of so many amazing things! Time-travel, adventure, Greek Gods, mystery, intrigue, loyalty, friendship, family, love and clan-destined missions. It is a wonderful, clean read for all ages.
Modern day brother and sister, Ksenia and Manos, are paired up with ancient time traveling brother and sister, Phevos and Daphne in a seemingly coincidental occurrence. They soon find themselves on a mission that will change reality as they know it as they uncover truths about their family while on a journey finding clues laid in wait by Athena. A path that eventually leads to the Gods themselves. The story is so expertly woven together that I find myself not wanting to tell you too much about it. I want you to experience it as I did – living in the world of the book until you reach the amazing finale! You won’t want to put it down until you are done and you will be left wishing it had never ended.
Past and present link together throughout this lively and entertaining story, leaving me believing the possibility that there is more to life and love than the visible layers we see with our eyes. On almost every page Effrosyni Moschoudi offers up gem after gem of wisdom that will touch your heart and affirm truth in your soul. I actually started writing them down as I read so I could post some of them in my house. Inspirational, but highly entertaining! Filled with danger, yet sparkling with the goodness of its characters. Sometimes the characters seemed a bit too perfect, but they needed to be that way in order to fulfill their destiny. Only one chosen by the Gods could follow the path they did! In parts of the book it is obvious that the book was not written in the authors’ native tongue, but this fact quickly becomes an endearing part of the character of the story itself. After reading this I am filled with the desire to visit the beautiful city of Athens! I am looking forward to another book from this author!
